Servings: 2
Cook Time: 20-35 minutes
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 cauliflower
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup almond, oat, soy, or other plant-based milk
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp salt (optional, SANC Premium Soy Sauce is a great salt substitute. Leave this extra salt out for less sodium!)
- ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper
- Panko breadcrumbs to coat
- Spring onions sliced for garnish
For the Savory Sauce
- 4 tbsp SANC Premium Soy Sauce
- ⅔ cup maple syrup
- 1 tsp corn flour
- 1 tsp sesame seeds (maybe extra to top at end)
- Pinch of ground ginger
- ½ cup water
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 450°F
- Remove cauliflower leaves, break apart cauliflower florets into "wings".
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, milk, garlic powder, salt and black pepper and stir to form a smooth batter.
-
Pour breadcrumbs into a shallow bowl. Dip the cauliflower pieces into the batter, then coat them in the breadcrumbs. Transfer to a baking tray with parchment paper. The parchment paper will keep the wings from sticking to the tray while baking.
-
Bake wings for 20 minutes. Flip the wings halfway through!
-
Meanwhile, make the sauce. In a saucepan over low heat, combine the SANC Soy Sauce, maple syrup, corn flour, sesame seeds and ginger with water. Stir and cook for about 10 minutes until thickened.
-
When the baked cauliflower wings are ready, pour over the sauce and toss to coat evenly.
- Bake again! Bake for 10-15 more minutes until the edges of the wings are dark and crispy. Make sure to balance this bake time with your first bake
-
Brush on more sauce, garnish with spring onions and sesame seeds, and enjoy!
Bonus Tips:
- Remember the sauce - this dish can get a bit saucy, so make it to your liking. You can use a little less to keep it tidy or a little more to go full force. Make it how you like it.
- Enjoy promptly - these wings are best within a few minutes of baking. You can save some for tomorrow... they just won't be as crispy!
